Q: Profile is displaying a PrintDlg: 4099 and then crashes.
A: This occurs when you connect to the Profile server using Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) when Profile tries to print a report.

This is because RDC seems to interfere with the printers on the server.

To stop the crash:
Open Remote Desktop Connection
Click 'Options >>'
Click 'Local Resources'
Unclick the 'Printers' option

Q: When starting Profile the error message "Warning! Unable to connect to IP Address. Could not start the web server." is displayed and then Profile immediately quits itself.
A: This occurs when there is another web server process running on the machine. This is normally Microsoft IIS when running on a Windows Server 2003 / 2008 machine.

Disable the IIS process/web process and then restart Profile.

Q: Profile does not run under Windows 2003 Server. It starts for a few seconds and then shortly afterwards quits.

Double click on 'System'
On the dialog click on the 'Advanced' tab
Click on the top 'Settings' button in the 'Performance' section of the page
Click the 'Data Execution Prevention' tab on the new dialog
Click on the 'Add' button
When the file dialog appears navigate to and select the Profile.exe file where you installed the application. After clicking OK on the list of exceptions the application will probably be listed as '4th Dimension'
Click OK on all of the dialogs and then run the application as normal. From now on it should run normal

Q: When I start Profile I get an error message indicating that mykeyname.key was not a valid key
A: This messages means that you are trying to use the key with the wrong version of the software.

Ensure that you are running the correct version of the software. If you are you may need a new key issuing to you.
Q: How do I access the Profile web server?
A: To access the web server, make sure Profile is running and that you have the necessary licence installed to run the web server.

Open your web browser (IE/Firefox/Safari) and then type in URL of the Profile server eg http://194.205.239.101 and the site should load.

TIP: If you are running the server on the same machine as the web browser, you can enter the local host address http://127.0.0.1
Q: After upgrading Profile and running it for the first time, it prompts me for a registration number or opens a blank database.
A: Profile stores all its configuration in a data file called Profile.4DD. If this file is renamed the installer will recreate another blank Profile.4DD file which will be used by default by the new version. To use the previous data file, double click on the Profile.EXE file and immediately after hold the alt key down. This will instruct Profile to choose a different data file. Select your data file and click open and Profile will continue to use the renamed data file from then.
